Scuola Leggendo (reading at school) is an innovative, fun, teaching-playing-doing format devised to develop the reading skills of first year Primary School children; it was rolled out in experimental form in 2006 in some schools in Genoa, Milan and Syracuse. After that first stage, the project has constantly expanded to a number of regions and is involving an increasing number of classes and students. It now reaches out to 100-plus classes every year, for a total of 11,250 students and at least 500 teachers. As from the 2014-2015 academic year, Scuola Leggendo broadened its horizons even further by adding a website and inaugurating a new online approach for users, to cover the whole of Italy.

16 October 2006 was the date of the first edition of Scuola di Alti Studi in Economia del Turismo Culturale "Cattedra Edoardo Garrone" (school of postgraduate studies in the economics of cultural tourism - Edoardo Garrone chair) organised by the Committee for promoting a centre of excellence in the economics of cultural tourism in Syracuse – established by Fondazione Edoardo Garrone in association with the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture, Confindustria Siracusa (industrial association of Syracuse), Archimede university consortium – with the collaboration of the Municipality of Syracuse, Regione Sicilia, and the University of Catania. The goal of the Course is to provide young university graduates with an excellent educational and scientific course for international specialisation in the Management of Cultural Tourism.
